24 years young

I recently celebrated my twenty-fourth birthday. Boy do I feel old. Now I know that twenty-four is not "old" but I can't help but wonder where my life has gone. I have sat back and reflected on my past twenty-four years and I would like to share some of that with you.

Ten years ago I was just starting high school and meeting the boy who would someday become my husband. I was shy, naive, and much healthier than I am now. (I'm working on it). It's hard to believe that in just a few years I will be attending my four year high school reunion. It is amazing how far I have come since my days in high school.

I am very proud of the accomplishments that I have achieved in my past twenty-four years. Here are few:

* I completed fourteen years (pre-school through senior year of high school) with decent grades.

* I moved away from Bakersfield and attempted college in a different city. Even though I only stayed there for a year, I feel proud that I attempted something that I was scared to do.

* I earned at Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies and I also earned my credential to teach. I task I thought I would never live to see completed.

* I made a big step and moved out of my parents' house to move in with my boyfriend. It was hard to leave my family and see my parents so hurt that I did it. However, I felt it was something that I needed to do and I am happy that I did it.

* I am proud that I waited to get married until I had completed my education. It made it so much easier to complete my education and it was something I had promised many people I would do.

* I waited to drink until I was extremely close to turning twenty-one. I never did drugs and I never gave into peer pressure. Despite what the people around me were doing, I waited and did things according to my own beliefs. I am so proud of myself for sticking by that I hope that it will set a good example for my future children.

I am proud of the twenty-four year old person that I have become. I know that there a few changes that need to be made, but I happy with the person that I am.

I am happy to have the support system that I do and I am thankful for each and every person in my life. The people in my life are amazing and I am proud to call them friends/family.
