Calamity April

So, my husband's newest hobby is shooting. Me, being the supportive wife, has joined in and has gone shooting.

I have NEVER shot a gun in my life and never had any intention of it whatsoever. But I know I need to learn how to defend myself if I need to. So I went along and wasn't nervous until I got there and had to hold the gun for the first time on May 17th. Can you say "Eeek"?

First time holding a gun. I may look happy, but I'm shaking.

I had a fun time shooting with my brother and husband in the 105 degree heat. (Ew!) I only shot 5 bullets and decided that was enough. But my husband and brother are really good at it, so I just watched them and stayed in the shade as much as possible.

Photobucket
Alex was actually very good shooting the disks. I guess all those years of video games like "Duck Hunt" finally paid off haha

I got creative =)

I went shooting again with our friends Joey and Brynna last Saturday (the 23rd). I wasn't AS nervous this time and it wasn't so hot so that was good.

I shot three guns this time. I shot the first one (in the previous picture) first. It has a little bit of a kick back so it can get a little scary.

Photobucket
The gun was Joey's and was much easier to handle for me. I enjoyed shooting it more.

Photobucket
It didn't even feel like I shot anything. But I used it again when we shot targets.

The scariest part of the trip wasn't shooting the guns though. (Oh how I wish it was). A killer bee was flying around (that we thought was a massive fly). Joey hit it away first and then it came over by me and I shooed it away. Well, it got mad and started following me around. Jonathan informed me that it was actually a bee and I freaked. I started to run away and it followed me so I just covered my head with shirt and hoped that it would fly away. Well, I actually ended up trapping it in my shirt. OMG! After I was told that it was in my shirt, I quickly pulled it down from over my head. It was in MY HAIR! I had just put my hair in messy bun before then and it hung out there.

Since Jonathan is pretty much deadly allergic to bees, I ordered him to go away. Joey took Jonathan's shirt and crushed it in my bun. Luckily he killed it and it feel to the ground. All of us avoided a sting and we left shortly after with bee guts in my hair.

Dirty Dancin'

My mom, sister, and I went to our very last play (for now) a few weekends ago. We had a really great time.

Photobucket

We took the metro to Hollywood and Highland. I LOVE the metro! I know that sounds bizarre and the idea of being feet below the ground should scare the living crap out of me. But I love it.

Photobucket
Her first metro ride...awe!

We went to a Japanese restaurant called Koji's. It was super yummy! You were able to cook your own food at the table! My mom was the only one brave enough to try it. But I get to cross it off my list of new restaurants to try! My sister and I both got sushi (different kinds) and then split them to we could each try the different kinds. It was yummy. We also had dessert which was a little....weird. It had a tough outside but was ice cream in the middle.

Andrea didn't like it haha

While we were finishing up our meal we kept seeing these clumps of bubbles go by. After dinner we went to see what it was and we found the world premiere of the new Pixar movie "Up"! Those clumps of bubbles ended up being what was left of the bubbles that originally were in the shape of the word "Up" and a shape of a balloon. It was pretty neat.

Prety neat!

After we looked at the premiere, we went to to the Chinese Theater to look at the handprints.

Then we made our way back to see Dirty Dancing! It was an amazing play! I had never seen the movie all the way through, so it was awesome. Plus, the guy playing the main character was HAWT AND Austrailan! Oh my my! haha

Photobucket

Afterwards we went to the Farmer's Market and mall. It was really neat. I went into the American Girl store. My sister and I used to have a few of their dolls, so we went and checked to see if their stuff was still there. My doll has been "retired" (so sad), but hers was still there. I got Jonathan some Dr. Pepper BBQ sauce from a store that had nothing but hot sauce and other sauces. Very interesting. And ate at a new restaurant!

I had the Beer Shrimp. Not what I thought. It was super spicy but pretty yummy.

It was a fun day!

Mia and the Relay

I know, I know...its been a long time. I haven't died I swear.

Life is good and VERY busy! I've been subbing quite a bit (thank gosh!). I have had subbing jobs all week. YES! I really need the $$ and I won't be working during the summer. School is over next week and I'm excited to have time off, even though I will be broke.

I booked our one year wedding anniversary trip! It was actually originally going to be Jonathan's gift. The first year is paper and I was going to get him a ticket (the paper) to Catalina Island to go snorkeling. The boy loves fish, what can I say. I knew he would love it. But he ruined it. We were driving last weekend and he said, "We should go to Catalina for our anniversary. I think it would be really fun!" I couldn't help but smile a HUGE smile because I knew he would love this gift. He got really curious about why I was smiling so big and wouldn't drop it, so I cracked. Its a good thing I did though because by the time I went to go book the room they were almost booked up! All the search engines I could find were out of all the nice rooms and I ended up having to call begging for a room. But I got one! King bed with an ocean view...sweet! Of course it came at a few pretty pennies. THEN I went to go book the ferry to get out there and THEY were all booked! I couldn't believe it! But I found one and they have already charged our credit card so we are definitely going! haha

We named our adorable little kitten. Her name is Mia (I won) and she has brought so much to our family. She is such a little cuddle bug! In fact, right now she is curled up on my chest, her favorite spot. haha She runs to the door when I come home and cries when I lock her out of a room. She attacks our feed, wakes me up at 6:30 every morning, and gets into everything. Just like a kid! haha

We also had relay for life a few weeks ago. It went really well and our team raised a LOT of money for a cure for cancer! Oh and my Grandpa is finally home from his stem cell transplant and happy to be home.

The Cat's Meow

So this past weekend was very eventful!

Saturday our team (Team Kim) had a yard sale to raise money for Relay for Life. It started at 6:30am and we didn't really get anybody until around 8:00am, so we were a little worried that it wasn't going to be successful. But, no worries because people showed up in waves and we sold a large amount of our stuff! I believe our team raised over $1,200 with the stuff from the yard sale, baked goods, donations, and raffle tickets! Good for us!

After the yard sale, Jonathan and I went to go look at some kittens that were being given away. We have been thinking about getting a cat for awhile, but needed to get a small cat because of the chinchillas. We figured if it was smaller than them then it wouldn't try to attack them or try to be the dominant animal. And we found our kitten! She is so precious! I just love her! The first day she was very timid and wouldn't leave our side. Now she is starting to explore the apartment and getting into stuff. But when she wants to sleep, she cuddles with us. It's so adorable. We have yet to name her. Jonathan wants to name her "cat" like Audrey Hephburn does on "Breakfast at Tiffany's" but I don't like it. Hopefully we can find another name soon. Look how adorable she is! She is even smaller than our remote control!

This is what she looks like right now. Super cute!

Mamma Mia!

What a weekend!

On Saturday I went with my mom and sister to Hollywood to see our third play, Mamma Mia! It was amazing and such a great time! I truly enjoy spending quality time with my mom and sister and we really don't do it often enough.

We ate lunch at a new restaurant called "Grub" in Hollywood, CA. They have amazing food and its such a cute little place! They also have quite a humorous view of their menu.

We then went to the play! It was amazing! Although, I don't understand how anybody thinks it is okay to leave your cell phone on during a play! People pay $75 a ticket to go see it and you leave on your cell phone! Not only that, but the lady next to me actually talked on hers! Oye! Also, she decided it was okay to open candy wrapper or something that made that noise for about 15 minutes. I was very upset.

BUT at least the play was good.

After the play, my mom took us SHOE SHOPPING at Off Broadway Shoes. This place was the biggest shoe store I have ever seen in my life! The prices weren't the best I have ever seen but there was every shoe there that you could imagine! I found the cutest shoes that I have ever seen and I feel completely in love! They were about $50, but so worth it! Jonathan says that they are "so me"! haha

I quick and secret picture I took of Off Broadway Shoes. The picture does not really do the size of this place justice!

Photobucket
My beautiful Martinez Valero shoes! Love them!

These are the tennis shoes I got too. Yay for new tennis shoes!

On the way home we stopped at at Valencia and ate dinner at a yummy Chinese restaurant called "Pick up Stix" (no pictures of this place). I wish we had one in Bakersfield! It was a big step up from Panda Express but was affordable. I got the Shrimp and Vegetables with brown rice and an egg roll. It probably wasn't the healthiest meal they had there, but I felt good about it. And since I was so good (and Baskin Robbins was a few stores down), we got ice cream too! I had the Icing on the Cake (OMG! OMG! OMG!) and it was unbelievably yummy!

It was such a great trip and I can't wait to see what our last play has in store next month!

My day

Sorry the for long hiatus in between posts, there really has not been anything exciting to blog about lately.

Well today is April 17th or "my" day as I call it. It is my name and my favorite number together. I hope for good things to happen on this day, but so far nothing. I didn't get called in this morning to substitute (darn it!), but I guess that might be a good thing because I can enjoy some time to myself. We will see what tonight has in store though.

I haven't really been working lately. I wish I was though, I definitely need the money. But it is towards the end of the year which means testing and last minute projects to get finished, so teachers tend to stay at school.

I still need to find something to do over the summer.

I've been working on my house aka the Endless Project! One day it will be finished and look amazing. I'm a pack rat which means that I have a lot of clutter. I've been working on all of that and actually finding a place for everything. If I can't find a place for it, it goes. We are having a yard sale for Relay for Life next Saturday, so the proceeds can go to that. I've already gotten rid of a lot of stuff, so that is good.

My grandpa was a outpatient at Cedar Sinai Hospital so we went to see him last Monday (Jonathan, Alex, and I). It was nice to spend some time with him, I just wished he didn't have to go through all the cancer treatments. But whatever makes him better!

He was home in time for Easter which was amazing! I did something I never have done before, I made a cake! Now, I know I'm 24 and should be able to cook. I am aware of this, but I am still learning how to cook and all that. I also made cupcakes! My husband was thrilled to come home to the smell of something baking and that made me happy.

Photobucket
My cake and cupcakes! They were yummy!

I am teaching a friend's child how to read though. We are starting out with learning the letters first and its really exciting. She is getting it really well. I'm sure she is just a super smart kid, but I like to believe that I am able to teach her.

I love teaching! <3

Spring is here!

Isn't it wonderful?

I love the weather during the spring time! I wish I would have taken a picture of the weather today, but I didn't. It was windy anyway, but it was pretty.

Not too much has happened in the past week, but I have lots of things to be excited about.

First of all, I crossed something else off of my 100 things to do in 365 days list!

On Thursday, April 2nd, Jonathan and I went to a surprise party for a friend's husband at T-Bones. I didn't drink because we took separate cars so I was 100% sober and despite that fact, I got up in front of a room full of people and sang karaoke! I even sang the "Thong Song" and knew ALL the words! It was great!

It was SO fun!

Photobucket
Even Jonathan went up there! haha

So add that to number 12!

Besides that, I am so excited for the expectant arrival of my friends' baby! I can't wait to meet the little guy and it should be any day now!

I don't really have any plans for Spring Break except for getting my house cleaned up and hopefully having lunch with some friends this week! Hopefully I will be able to cross more stuff off my list this week!

Okay this blog was kind of pointless, but I was overdue for a blog and needed to share my hilarious karaoke photos!!

What are your plans for "Spring Break"?
